Let’s talk about some Montana Football Stadiums
This is going to sound like a load of garbage, but there are very few things I enjoy more than a football stadium. I love (almost) all of them. They are like fingerprints, every one of them is different, they all have their own traits that makes them stand apart.
This is a list of some of the places that stand out for me, and what makes them special. It has to include the big boys, of course. Saturdays in Missoula and/or Bozeman are a way of life for a large chunk of our state (including a high percentage of my family) But I'm telling you, magic can be found in a lot of incredible venues around our state.
I would love to be able to say I have watched a game at every football field in Montana. How amazing would that be. From Westby-Grenora to Troy, and Baker to Darby, there are a lot of miles and a lot of games being played each and every week. I can say I have been to football games, and have been able to call games, in a decent chunk of those stadiums.
I will say, I AM BIASED. so let's start there. I will listen to your argument when you say that Washington Grizzly is the BEST stadium in the state. I will nod in the appropriate places, I will smile the whole while, but when you are done, I will tell you that I value your input, and yes, I know it's an incredible place. But you are wrong. Naranche Stadium is the best football facility in the state. Period. End of discussion.
Again Biased.
But I think I lean toward smaller stadiums, I love Drummond, and Ennis for a playoff game was one of the best environments I’ve ever been in. Don’t even get me going on Dillon. The football God(s) assembled that place. I can’t even put my finger on what it is about Dillon, maybe the people, maybe the field itself (maybe it’s the coldest I’ve ever been for a game in my life) whatever it is, I can’t get enough of that place.
So here are a few of my favorites, and why
Oh, and the one stadium I do not like, and I feel bad even saying it, but I don’t like Bulldog Memorial Stadium. At all. Love it for track, but not a bit for football.
Again Biased.
