BUTTE, MT - Living in the middle of the 21st century certainly brings its detriments (looking at you, social media takeover and the mass existential crisis), but it certainly brings its perks.

Due to recent events, most notably the Blacktail Canyon Fire just a few minutes south of Butte proper, Butte-Silver Bow has introduced a new mass notification system to enhance public safety and communication. The system is designed to quickly update you with important information during emergencies, including weather alerts, road closures, and other critical updates. Other major cities in the state and the nation have implemented similar measures before and have been met with success, so having such a system here is quite exciting.

The thing is: have you signed up to receive the notifications from the system? Unfortunately, it is not a system that signs you up automatically, it is something that requires a sign up and potential download. Luckily, however, both are very easy to do, and we are here to walk you through them.

The first thing you'll need to do is go to the follow link (click here) and be taken to Everbridge, the notification system service. You'll fill out some basic information and fill in the phone number you wish to receive text notifications at.

From what we understand, you're good to go from there if all you would like to receive are texts notifications for information on mass events. However, you can also go a step further and download the Everbridge app for additional information on Butte and beyond. You'll look up Butte-Silver Bow Law Enforcement and subscribe if you choose to download the app. Here are the links: Google Play & iOS.
