Original Mineyard

Uptown Hoops is in its new location at the Original Mineyard and there is so much to see and do. It's a 3-on-3 tournament with age divisions from first grade all the way up to adults. And there are some phenomenal players that show up each year. Get up there early for the first round of games. The National Anthem will start things off at 8:30am on Saturday followed by a shoot around and tipoff at 9. Games will run until 5pm and then they are going to take it up a notch. This year from 5pm to 7pm there will be a slam dunk contest, a three-point shootout and a lightning free-throw contest, all offering a $500 cash prize along with Uptown Hoops merch. They will also recognize the winners of the kids coloring contest and dedicate the kids contests in honor and memory of Jerry Hogan. On Sunday games will once agan begin at 9am with the awards ceremony and t shirt distribution.

As far as local charitable organizations go, you won't find any better than Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Butte and when it comes to local car shows and concerts along with a few of the area's best food trucks and a trailer full of ice-cold beverages, well, you're not going to top Rhythm and Brews. It only stands to reason that this year's event is going to be one of the best in its' short history as the date has been set, the Original Mineyard has been reserved and now the musical lineup has been announced.

Uptown Hoops is an exciting 3-on-3 basketball tournament with divisions for everyone from 1st and 2nd-graders up to adults. The event has grown to include a slam dunk contest, a three-point shootout and a lightning contest and with the backing of some inpressive local sponsors like Leskovar Motors, Town Pump, McDonald's and TDS it is clear that this will be a big event not only this year but for many summers to come. This year, Uptown Hoops will be taking place in the Original Mineyard which will only add to it's identity and there is still time to be a part of the event either as a player a worker or just a fan.

The 2023 edition of "Rhythm and Brews" at the Original Mineyard was off to possibly its best start in event history. In fact, the party was in full swing, and kids and adults alike were having a great time. And then the storm hit. Saturday evening's freak lightning storm and torrential downpour put an abrupt end to the event just after 5pm. But other than the early end and soaked partygoers, the fundraiser for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Butte was a big success. The welcome banner is up and the commemorative heritage signs are decorating Uptown lampposts in anticipation. August 11, 12 and 13 will see the return of the Montana Gaelic Cultural Society's An Ri Ra Festival at the Original Mineyard and again this year a bevy of workshops, dance, storytelling, music, and even Irish Road Bowling,

This weekend's Montana Folk Festival is going to bring 21 big name performers along with tens of thousands of spectators and fans to the stage at the Original Mineyard and several other locations throughout Uptown Butte. Now, we've all been to big events and concerts over the years, and we've all seen "those people". The people who make the concert or festival experience worse for everyone in their immediate vicinity. What they do, while technically not illegal, is certainly pretentious and annoying. Who are "those people", but more importantly how do you not become one of them?

Volunteers for the Montana Folk Festival are in high demand and the list of opportunities is almost as long. All skill sets and abilities are needed for everything from transportation to stage setup, from hospitality to CD and beverage sales and much more.

Butte'e Independence Day celebration officially begins on the 3rd of July with barbecues, music and, of course, the state's biggest fireworks show thanks to our friends at Town Pump. Country star Morgan Evans will be performing in Butte at the Original Mineyard on Monday, July 3, before the fireworks.
