The 10th ranked Montana Tech Oredigger volleyball team is gearing up for the start of conference play next week and are eager to defend their conference title. They will get a look at their conference foes at the Frontier Conference Preseason Tournament getting underway Thursday on the campus of the University of Montana-Western in Dillon.

The Frontier Conference announced their Football Players of the Week awards on Monday, and the Special Teams award went to Montana Tech punter Andrew Almos.

The Frontier Conference has released the 2023 preseason cross country coaches’ poll today. Defending champion Carroll College is picked to win both the men’s and women’s titles. Montana Tech was picked to finish second in both polls followed by Rocky Mountain College, Montana Western, the University of Providence, and MSU-Northern.

After a successful opening weekend, going undefeated in the Big Sky Classic volleyball tournament, the 15th ranked Montana Tech Volleyball Team will certainly be moving up in the national rankings. The Orediggers attack was led over the weekend by Olivia Muir who earned the season's initial Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Attacker of the Week award with some impressive statistics.

The Montana Tech Orediggers have landed at No. 16 in the Top 25 Preseason poll released by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

The Orediggers will be hosting the Big Sky Volleyball Challenge with games today at two locations, Kelvin Sampson Court in the HPER Complex and the Maroon Activities Center, and tomorrow at the HPER. The challenge features two other Frontier Conference teams and six top programs from across the country.

What could be better than watching a stream of rubber ducks float down a lazy river on a cool, Southwest Montana late summer's evening? Being able to win money on it, of course. And better yet, helping out the Butte Parks and Trails Foundation through the work of our local Rotary Club.

Results of the preseason NAIA volleyball coaches' poll is out, and the defending Frontier Conference Champion Montana Tech Orediggers come into the season with a ranking of #15 in the nation.

This one looks like a lot of fun. Friday, August 25 is the 15th Chamber/Digger Classic at Butte's Highland View Golf Course but if you want in on the fun, time is running out.

Beloved Oredigger football coach Bob Green will receive the Chancellor's Award of Distinction during homecoming weekend.
