Mining City nabs Frontier Conference postseason tournament – a wise choice
Bill Melvin of the Butte Civic Center confirmed to NBC's Josh Margolis that the Mining City and the Butte Civic Center will be hosting the next two Frontier Conference Men's and Women's postseason championship tournaments starting in the spring of 2026. The conference could not have made a better choice.
For the last several seasons, the Frontier Conference Tournament has taken place in the bus barn that they call the Four Seasons Arena in Great Falls. While we admire the effort that they put forth, with the upcoming expansion of the Frontier Conference, the move to Butte will provide a more centrally located host city for participating teams and frankly, a better venue for teams and fans alike.
Bill Melvin takes pride in hosting tournaments. From parking lot designations to the incredible hospitality room that they cater, you simply will not find a more accommodating venue. The 6,000-plus seats in the arena offer clear views from every angle and the fans are physically much closer to the action on court. Speaking of the court, Melvin is excited about the new hardwood basketball floor that the facility will soon be receiving along with an updated public address system.
The fans and teams are also going to find the Mining City a more affordable and simply a more hospitable host city. Butte businesses cater to guests, as our upcoming festival and event season is nearly upon us. You will not find price gouging at our lodging establishments. In fact, many of them may be offering discounts. Our shops and restaurants in Butte are always welcoming. The Uptown area offers a unique setting for not only shopping and dining, but the history of the area is mind blowing. Our people? Some of the best in the world.
We commend the Frontier Conference on making this wise decision and look forward to some great basketball next spring.
