BUTTE, MT - Us here living in the great, historical, and mysterious city of Butte, Montana are treated to many unique attributes, from Evel Knievel roaming these very lands to being the home of the wop chop. That's just scratching the surface, I haven't even mentioned our insane St. Patty's Day celebration, our mining history (and it's treasure-filled underground corridors), and our Pit.

"Well, duh, Devon! We already know all that already." Exactly, that's my point! Sometimes these things just pass us by. In my long, tenured experience as a human, I've come to realize that we tend to develop an onset blindness to all the really cool stuff around us. It's natural, and it happens to all of us. That's why I'm here to remind you just how proud you should be for where you live!

This time around, I have something—a little slice of Butte—that has made it onto the Top 5 list of biggest in its category in the entire U.S. of A. Any guesses what it is? Spoiler: it has nothing to do with the Berkeley Pit, though it always has a special place in our hearts (and is in the Top 5 biggest manmade holes in the world). No, this is something you've driven by a million and a half times, something always lurking, always watching over us.

Batman? Nope. Here are the Top 5 Biggest Statues in the U.S. and guess who's on there!

I must admit, I might have reached a little bit with number one, Birth of the New World—it being in Costa Rica. But that would mean Butte's very own treasure, Our Lady of the Rockies herself, would be at number 3 in the U.S.! Did I just blow your mind or what?

The 5 Biggest Manmade Holes in the World (Montana, look out!)

These 5 manmade holes have proven themselves to be testaments to the human will and skill of engineering, all in all making up over 10 miles of deep excavation. Lucky for us here in the United States, Montana features one of the entries on the list—and you may not expect it.
