The Montana Tech Men's Basketball team is back in action tonight and tomorrow as the Montana Tech Fall Classic tips off amid an incredibly busy weekend for Digger Athletics. The Montana Tech men will take the court tonight at 7pm at Kelvin Sampson Court against Dickenson State University in the nightcap of a doubleheader which will tip-off at 5pm with the University of Providence Argos taking on the LC State Warriors
After closing out the regular season with three straight wins including last weekend's impressive 23-17 win at Carroll College, the Montana Tech Orediggers football team has qualified for the 2023 NAIA National Playoffs and will host a first-round game this Saturday at Bob Green Field.
It will be the Frontier Conference verses the Cascade Collegiate Conference and the Continental Athletic Conference in consecutive evenings of men's basketball starting tonight at Kelvin Sampson Court in Montana Tech's HPER Complex. Both of Montana Tech's Cross-Country teams have qualified for the 44th annual NAIA Cross Country National Championship. The 2023 National Championship will take place on Friday, November 17, at 11:30 a.m. MT at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Championship Course in Vancouver, Wash.
The Montana Tech Orediggers have secured the Frontier Conference Regular Season Championship, and now it is time for the Frontier Tournament.
The Frontier Conference tournament will be held on the campus of the University of Providence, Friday November 10th, and Saturday November 11th.
There are always constants when the Orediggers play the Blue Hawks of Dickinson State. You always know it is going to be an intense contest, you always know it is going to be hard fought, and you can always bank on the fact that both teams will be well coached. All of those statements were true Friday night in Dillon, as the Orediggers made off with a 70-56 win over Dickenson, made possible by a strong second half.
Any way you slice it, the 2023-24 season is going to be an exciting one as both the men and women now have an exhibition game each under their belts and look forward to nonconference play which begins this month. Last year the Montana Tech Orediggers Men's Basketball team went further into the postseason than any other in program history, making it to the quarterfinal round of the NAIA national tournament. This year, the team opens the season just outside the NAIA preseason top 5 and open their new season tonight at home.
