A new burrito spot has opened up, and the local foodie scene is buzzing. But is Chipotle the ultimate choice, or do we have hidden gems?

At least in my household, pizza is as important part of the Cat/Griz game as chips, beer and refreshments. With the undefeated Bobcats represented by hometown hero Tommy Mellott and hosting the game in Bozman, the stakes are high, and tickets are hard to come by. If you're like many of us who will be watching the game from home here in Butte, here are a few recommendations for some of our town's best pizza for you and your guests to enjoy.

Have you checked out the old Stephens Hotel on the corner of Park and Montana? Well, you may have and just not realized it. The Stephens Block, on the southeast corner of the intersection was once part of a bustling Uptown urban environment with the mines in full operation, shops that rivaled those of New York or Chicago and 24/7 entertainment and nightlife just down Park Street. Today? Different, yet familiar.

The Montana Folk Festival is one of Butte's biggest events of the entire year. People from literally all over the world converge on the Mining City for one of the region's biggest and best music festivals. Are you one of the thousands who will be joining us from out of town? Here are a few of our picks for a quick bite or a sit-down meal.

I don't think any of us can imagine a summer without an ice cream cone. I have fond memories of my father sneaking me away from our house on Diamond Street, walking up to the old S&L Ice Cream Parlor and selecting something from their crazy menu that they had descriptively painted on the back wall. Great memories. Although the S&L was hand-dipped and is long gone, if you're craving a cone there are still a few places around where you can get your soft-serve fix.

Good news for those here in Butte craving a hearty gyro, big salads or even crispy baklava. The Gyros Wagon which we learned last week was set to open, has set Wednesday, May 15 as their official opening day. And as we learned at a test-opeining earlier today, these guys are ready to roll and they mean business. Delicious business.

While new to Butte, Gyros Wagon has a location in Dillon on Atlantic, serving beef and lamb or chicken gyros both traditional style and in a number of different, tasty fashions and will be opening soon.

Well, it's tournament time in the Mining City and quite frankly this is one of my favorite times of year. As one of the announcers at the Butte Civic Center, along with my pal Chris Fisk, we often get asked about recommendations for a great place for a bite to eat between tournament sessions. Well, here are a couple of unique Butte places you're sure to enjoy.

By now you've seen the Big Hole Pizza fire truck around town and you've probably even had yourself a slice or two. Big Hole Pizza is becoming increasingly popular a big reason why is their delicious, cooked to perfection thin crust pizza that comes hot out of a real wood-fired oven.
