‘Addams Family’ Musical Underway at Orphan Girl Children’s Theatre

Last month, just as students were getting settled into the new school year, a group of young thespians from Butte took on an additional responsibility as cast members in the upcoming production of 'Addams Family young@part' set to launch October 27th at the Orphan Girl Children's Theatre! 

Just like other extra-curricular activities outside of school, including sports, orchestra, chorus, and band, theatrical performance takes a lot of concentration, stamina, work, discipline, dedication, and energy. After auditioning for a play or musical, the next step is callbacks, then the initial read-through. After that comes the need to master and memorize endless lines at countless rehearsals, remembering your placement on stage while saying those lines, all while in costume in front of a LIVE audience under stage lights that could sunburn your cheeks by the show's last run. As for those students behind the scenes, the same applies. There's a great need to know precisely the set design layout, when to bring up the lights, when to set specific props on stage and more. The point of my rant is to illustrate just how involved theatrical production is. With that, these students set to perform EIGHT times on stage and behind the scenes in Addams Family young@part' truly deserve a standing ovation before opening night for their hard work and preparation.

As provided by Crase of the Orphan Girl, the summary of this musical, perfect for the Halloween season, applauds the quirky and wacky scenarios that most families face from time to time. This best-selling Broadway musical tells the story of the princess of darkness herself, Wednesday Addams (Peytan Campbell), who falls head over heels for an intelligent and sweet youngster, Lucas Beinekes (Sullivan Panisko), from a very defined and respectable family. Although Gomez (Sullivan Malouf) is aware of Wednesday's love for this squeaky-clean mortal, Wednesday's mother, Morticia (Maya Dare), is not. As the plot thickens, things begin to unravel for the whole family during a fateful dinner one evening for Wednesday's "normal" love interest.
