Finding a young, local rock band these days is a challenge in itself.  And, by nature, when you come across a young band, many of them simply don't have the necessary years under their belt to have come together as a tight unit.  But False Fiction is no ordinary band.  Sure, they're young, but that's beside the point.

Inspired by the hair metal sound of the 80s, bands like Ratt, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Van Halen and Dokken, False Fiction's sound is not dirty or rough.  They don't have the dropped-tuned, chunky sound that you would expect from a band this young.  They are not angst-ridden.  In fact, they're incredibly polite and fun to be around.  Formed in the Gallatin Valley in 2019 False Fiction is remarkably polished and tight with the kind of groove that takes years to perfect.

The core of the band consists of twin brothers Jaiden and Jordan Richards, who make up the rhythm section with Jaiden on drums and Jordan on bass, along with their lifelong friend, Tegan Gates on lead guitar.  The three began playing together in 2019 and quickly added Ethan Oddey on rhythm guitar and would begin honing their instrumental craft.  Their lineup was completed with the addition of vocalist Brayden Brian last year and since then, it's benn full speed ahead.

Last summer, False Fiction blew the crowd away as the opener for Everclear at the Butte Civic Center.  In the time since, they have released their first single "Can't Control Myself" which you can download on all digital and streaming platforms.  Check it out.

Look for False Fiction August 17th as one of the headliners for Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Butte's Rhythm and Brews Festival at the Original Mineyard, on September 1st as the supporting act for Rehab and at other dates throughout Southwest Montana this summer.
