Montana Tech Has Hired New Provost And Executive Vice Chancellor
Montana Technological University has announced the hiring of Dr. Nosa O. Egiebor, as new provost and executive vice chancellor.
Dr. Egiebor will take over on July 31st, replacing retiring Dr. Steven Gammon, who served as provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs from January 2020 to current.
Dr. Egiebor’s resume is incredible. He is a Chemical and Environmental Engineering professor with a Ph.D. in metallurgical engineering from Queen’s University in Ontario, Canada. Dr. Egiebor has more than 30 years of experience in teaching, research, and academic administration. He started his academic career at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada, where he attained the rank of full professor before he was appointed the U.S. Department of Energy’s Dr. Samuel P. Massie Chair of Excellence Professor in Environmental Engineering, with tenure at Tuskegee University in Alabama. He previously served as provost and executive vice president at the State University of New York- College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse. Previous to that he was executive director of global engagement at the University of Mississippi, and before that, he was vice president for international education and research at Tuskegee University in Alabama.
Dr. Egiebor is a renowned international educator and researcher who has served as a visiting professor at top global universities, including the Technical University of Berlin in Germany, Ankara University in Turkey, and the International Institute for Water and Environmental Engineering in Burkina Faso. He has previously served as the environmental engineering expert member of the National Research Council’s Committee on Assembled Chemical Weapons Demilitarization. He has received numerous national and international professional awards, including the U.S. Department of Energy Award for Outstanding Research & Educational Accomplishments, the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship Award In Germany, and the U.S. Fulbright Scholar Award.
Dr. Egiebor's research interests include industrial water and wastewater treatment, advanced oxidation processes, biomass conversion for activated carbon and biochar production, carbon dioxide sequestration, hydrometallurgical processing of ores and concentrates, acid mine drainage, and the treatment of mining and milling wastes. Dr. Egiebor has secured over $30 million in extramural funding as grants and contracts from numerous funding agencies, both nationally and internationally. He has published over 140 peer-reviewed and technical scholarly articles and delivered multiple lectures and oral presentations at conferences, workshops, and symposia worldwide.
It feels like the stars have aligned bringing Dr. Egibor to Montana Tech. His amazing resume is one thing, but his research interests seem to be a perfect fit for Montana Tech.
