You really don't need a lot of reasons to support Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Butte, but they're making it really easy and fun with "Prom Through available Decades" tomorrow night at the Star Lanes Event Center.  It is just what is sounds like.  An adult prom.  Only now we have no curfews and (hopefully) better judgment.

Despite better judgment, organizers have tapped local band High Ore Road to provide the entertainment but have hopefully redeemed themselves by getting Chris Fisk as the emcee.  It's going to be a lot of fun.  One of the highlights will be when they draw for the raffle packages.  Let's take a look at what's inside.

The BBQ Package is the big one valued at $1500.  Included are a six-burner gas grill with a 20 lb. tank, an "Ultimate Grilling Package" from Riley's Meats, a $50 gift certificate to Western Meat and Sausage Block and a 10 lb. grilling package from Excelsior Meats.  Also included are a beverage basket from Mile High Beverages, handcrafted chairs, an Olivelle basket and BBQ tools with special thanks going to donors Mike and Julie Henrich, the BHS Wood Shop, True Value Hardware, Schalk's Posie Patch and The Olive Pit.

The other big package comes from donors Peggy and Dave Bennets, Butte Floral and Riddle's Jewelry and this one is the Date Night Getaway Package.  This one includes two nights at Chico Hot Springs and two $50 massage certificates, $100 to spend in the restaurant, and a flower bouquet and a spa basket which includes sparkling wine and chocolates.  Topping it off is a gorgeous white gold diamond and yogo sapphire pendant necklace.  This package is also valued at $1500.

Check out the Staycation Package consisting of a night in the dome at Pipestone Village and Hot Springs along with a handmade charcuterie board, a charcuterie basket, a wine basket and a $60 gift certificate to the Rib and Chop House.  Special thanks on this one also go out to Nick and Debbie Ellings, Shari Widhalm and Tina West with Berkshire Hathaway.

Another cool package is the Murder Mystery Night Package where up to 14 people can take part in a fun murder/mystery game at the famous Kelly Mansion.  Also included are a wine basket, appetizers and a delicious cheesecake compliments of Kalli Eighorn.

The final package is a fun one.  The Virginia City Vacation Package include two tickets to the Brewery Follies along with $25 to the Virginia City Creamery.  The winner will also receive $50 to the Road Agents Roost, a one-night stay at the Carriage House, $50 worth of sweets at Cousin's Candy Shop, a $25 gas card and a "Vigilante Family Pass" which includes train rides, admission to Nevada City and gold panning for five.

Get to the prom tomorrow night for a shot at all of this.  Raffle and Prom tickets are available at the Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Butte office on Front Street in the Executive Village.  You need not be present to win, but you'll be kicking yourself if you don't show up.

Know Your Butte History: Standing Mine Headframes

Dozens of mine headframes used to dot the Butte hill but most have since been torn down or swallowed by the Pit. Here are the ones that still tower proudly over our town.
