The Knights of Columbus Hall on Park Street in Butte will be the site of a Medical Benefit for Gyuanna Callaghan and her family on Saturday, February 17.  The following is from the event's Facebook invitation page describing Gyuanna's condition and challenges:

"Gyuanna has had epilepsy for 12 years. She is now resistant to medication and the seizures are uncontrollable and severe. On November 20th, Gyuanna has a grand mal seizure while at work causing her to fall face first to the concrete floor. She suffered facial fractures, a concussion, and broken teeth. Due to the severity and unpredictably of the seizures, she is no longer able to work, drive, attend massage school and must be with someone 24/7. Since Gyuanna is medication resistant, she qualified for the Vagus Nerve Stimulator (VNS). This is a device that is implanted with wires running to her brain. Gyuanna had the surgery on December 20th in Kalispell, MT. Her other injuries will be addressed in 10-12 weeks due to the vns procedure. Gyuanna’s mother, Krista, who is a single mom of 2, will need to take time off work to care for Gyuanna, take her to Kalispell for the VNS procedure, all follow up appointments and all appointments to address her other injuries."

The benefit will run from 4 until 7pm and will feature a spaghetti dinner featuring salad, bread and dessert, the cost is $15 for adults and $10 for children 10 and under.  Volunteers and donors are currently needed.  If you are interested, please contact Kathy Rowe or Tasha Ruddie Whiteshield-Segna through the event's Facebook invitation page.
