Brown Bag Lunch - Julie Bushmaker - Butte Nursing History

Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives (17 W Quartz St, Butte, MT 59701); 12:00 PM

Event Description: 

"The Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives’ Brown Bag Lunch Series welcomes Julie Bushmaker to present about Butte’s nursing history.

St. James Hospital’s School of Nursing started in Butte, Montana in 1906 with 4 Nurses graduating in 1909. A total of 1,046 graduates received diplomas from St. James over the next 64 years. In 1969, 59% of all nurses employed in Butte were graduates of St. James. The last class of 19 Nurses graduated on June 5, 1970. Learn about this legacy, Cadet Nurse in WWII, life in Lourdes Hall, and training these Nurses experienced.
The Brown Bag presentation will begin at noon on Wednesday, October 23rd, 2024, and will last about an hour. The presentation will be held in the auditorium at the Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives located at 17 W. Quartz Street. Guests are encouraged to bring a sack lunch. Coffee and water will be provided.
Brown Bag Lunches are held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of every month. Upcoming lectures will focus on topics of local interest. For more information, contact the Archives at (406)782-3280."

Youth Open Mic with Host Peyton Waters

Event Description: 

"Tell the young people in your life that Thursdays this winter are a youth-focus Open Mic at the Covellite, hosted by comedian-extraordinaire Open Mic alum Peyton Waters, in association with Butte Cares and RockTop Nation.

We had several awesome youth artists make regular appearances over last winter's All Ages Open Mic, and Butte Cares and RockTop Nation hope with this series to cultivate a space where even more young people are comfortable performing and attending to support each other. All ages welcome to attend - stage time priority given all night to any performers under 20ish!"
