That’s how I felt the first time I walked into this place.

Nestled right in the heart of Yellowstone National Park, hidden in plain sight next to one of the most famous attractions in the entire world, is a lodge that looks like it was ripped straight out of a fairy tale.

Or maybe a Wes Anderson movie. Honestly, it’s somewhere between Middle Earth and a national treasure.

Most people come for the geysers, the bison, the endless scenery—and don’t get me wrong, those things are worth every minute. But this place? This is the kind of spot that leaves you slack-jawed and whispering to strangers: “Can you believe this exists?”

It’s got a fireplace the size of a small apartment. Hand-carved railings made from twisted logs. Balconies and staircases that feel like something out of an old storybook. Every nook and cranny has its own secret charm.

And the craziest part? A lot of Yellowstone visitors never even walk inside. They drive right past it, chasing eruptions and elk herds, never realizing the coolest place to stay in the entire park was right under their noses.

Some call it the crown jewel of National Park lodges. Others call it a hidden gem, though I have no idea how something this enormous and iconic could possibly be considered “hidden.” But somehow, it is.

So what is this magical, hand-built marvel that makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time?

Let me introduce you to the Old Faithful Inn.

Click through the gallery and see why this century-old lodge still holds the title of the most enchanting stay in Yellowstone—and why it’ll have you planning your next visit before you even leave the lobby.

12 Animals You Must Report If You Hit Them in Montana

Ever hit an animal while driving in Montana? It’s an unfortunate reality of life on the road here, and while some critters can scurry off unscathed, others aren’t so lucky.

So, who do you call? If you hit one of these animals, you’ll need to report it to Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) or local law enforcement. If it’s an emergency—say, the animal is still alive and injured in a way that poses a hazard—call 911. Otherwise, the non-emergency number will do. They’ll guide you on the next steps and make sure everything is properly documented.

Not sure which animals make the list? Keep reading, because failing to report could land you in hot water.
