These Beloved Montana Attractions to Have Free Admission
BUTTE, MT - When the summer finally starts to roll around, what are your favorite things to do here in the Treasure State?
There's a ridiculous amount of options to choose from, even for those of us living here in Butte America—despite people's best efforts to keep up the inaccurate reputation that "there's nothing to do in Butte." Many of us like to go out to the rivers for some fishing, some floating, or some swimming while hanging out with friends. Others retreat to the wilderness for hiking, hunting, or both, pounding a beer or two along the way.
But some of us don't like to or can't go out and do all those outdoor activities because of the physicality some of them require. Or maybe you have a small child or two and have to do something that they're able to handle. Whatever your reason is: I have you covered.
This weekend, Saturday, June 1st, 2024, from 10am to 6pm is "Community Day" put on by Powell County Museum & Arts. What does that mean exactly? See the details below:
All 5 museums will be free admission and open to the public. These include (all on-site):
- Old Prison Museum
- "Guided and self-guided tours lead you through the intimidating Cell House and into the chilling slide bar cells and black box of Maximum Security. See what it was like to live amongst the turreted stone towers and iron gates at the “Prison Life” photo exhibit, then view the galloping gallows..."

- "Over 200 cars are on display from classic Chevys and muscle cars to a Schacht high wheeler. Listed by USA Today as one of the Top 10 Car Museums in the country..."

- Yesterday's Playthings
