In her 145-year history, the Original Mineyard has been many things. First, of course, it was, well, the Original Mineyard where underground mining operations took place from 1878 to 1976. Since the year of our nation's bicentennial, it has worn many hats. A storage area. A festival grounds. A city park. Even a wedding site and reception area. Starting Thursday, the Original Mineyard will turn into a fairground for a weekend as the Butte-Silver Bow County Fair moves north to this popular Uptown gathering site.

After last week's incredible turnout and another world-class performance from the Ken Rich Band, Uptown Butte's popular "Music on Main" series will continue Thursday evening with Butte band High Ore Road. The area's weather forecast looks perfect, and another big evening is expected for kids and adults alike.

The Butte-Silver Bow Fair is going to be a pretty big deal this year. New attractions, along with some familiar faces, and a new location have organizers as well as folks around town excited about what's coming up.

Another big event is returning this summer to the Original Mineyard. It's the annual Rhythm and Brews festival and it's one day your family should definitely mark on your calendar. Rhythm and Brews is put on each August by Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Butte and is one of their primary fundraisers. This year it will be taking place on Saturday, August 19. It features some of the finest local craft beer our town has to offer along with a large selection of domestic beer for you to enjoy while you check out the many cars, trucks and bikes on display in a huge car show. Again, this year there will be live music, a children's area, food trucks and a great day for the entire family.

You really don't need a lot of reasons to support Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Butte, but they're making it really easy and fun with "Prom Through The Decades" tomorrow night at the Star Lanes Event Center. It is just what is sounds like. An adult prom. Only now we have no curfews and (hopefully) better judgment.

With the St. Patrick's Day holiday in the rearview, the Butte Elks Lodge is taking no time off and returns this weekend with a full schedule of events.

"Prom Through The Decades" is the theme for the big spring fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Butte and tickets to the event are going fast.

Let's take a look at an event that will be celebrating it's 10th anniversary this year, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Butte annual Rhythm and Brews Festival coming August 19.
