There are many beautiful recreation areas within an hour or less of Butte and during a conversation with local forester Jocelyn Dodge we learned that the potential for activity is limitless.
Local recreationalist and forester Jocelyn Dodge tells us the campsites in our area open are ready for use. "All campgrounds in the Butte area including Delmoe Lake, Beaver Dam, Lowlands, Toll Mountain and Whitehouse are now open along with campgrounds in the Georgetown Lake area," Dodge told us. "However, along with a new season comes new fees that you may find upon arrival," she added.
At Youth Outdoor Day, kids will learn about archery. They will learn about fish and wildlife in Montana as well as camping, outdoor cooking, gardening and even outdoor survival skills through a series of hands-on exhibits and fun activities. Lunch will be provided as well.
The application period for the 2023 season on the Smith River is officially open. The private float permit application window is open through February 15, 2023.
