The fire was first reported around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, prompting an immediate response from local, state, and federal agencies. Firefighting resources on the scene include DNRC and Forest Service engines, two helicopters, and air attack support.

Crews worked through the night, taking advantage of calmer winds to slow the fire’s spread. Today, firefighters are continuing suppression efforts, laying hose lines and coordinating with engines to protect nearby communities.

Smoke from the Horn Fire may be visible from both Highway 287 and Highway 87, creating potentially hazardous driving conditions. Pre-evacuations remain in effect for residents northeast of Highway 87, and officials urge those affected to contact the Madison County Sheriff’s Office for updated information.
