It's too bad there isn't a hot spring inside Yellowstone National Park. That would be a hit with visitors looking to relax after a long day of hiking or walking around.

Fun fact, Yellowstone National Park used to have a hot spring.

The Upper Geyser Basin bathhouse used to be a thermal-fed hot spring for visitors to enjoy.

The bathhouse was first constructed back in 1914 with permission from the government and it became an instant hit.

The pool was closed in 1951. Why? Officials realized the effects of having constant hot water running out of the thermal could have long-term damage to many of Yellowstone's features.

Park officials wanted this part of Yellowstone to return to its natural beauty and got rid of it. Here's a whole video explaining what happened.

If you truly want to enjoy a hot spring while visiting the park, Yellowstone Hot Spring is right next to the North entrance and has stunning views.
