Montana GameStop Customers, You Might Be Owed Easy Money
This settlement is interesting.
GameStop
It's the premier spot for video games and accessories.
If you need to pick up a new gaming system, accessories, or other video game goods, GameStop is the perfect store.
GameStop has gone through ups and downs throughout the years. They have closed some stores and opened new ones. There was also the GameStop short squeeze in 2021 that caused chaos on Wall Street.
Yeah, GameStop has had a wild history.
The reason GameStop has been successful against massive stores like Best Buy and Walmart is that the company can offer exclusives and bonus material you can't get anywhere else.
It's a reason why people will always shop at GameStop.
Is there anything GameStop does wrong? Maybe if you trade in your games or systems, they undersell the value, but you would think that's about it, right?
GameStop might owe you money if you've shopped there in the past five years.
GameStop Settlement
This settlement seems like a joke.
USA Today reports GameStop has agreed to a settlement that will pay out $4.5 million to its customers.
GameStop shared video game customers' personal information to use for targeted ads.
If you bought a video game from GameStop between August 2020 and April 2025, were a member of Facebook, and had a pubic profile, you are eligible for a payout.
You can file your claim here.
How much can you receive? That's the ridiculous part.
Eligible customers can opt for a cash payment of $5 or a voucher up to $10 on GameStop's website.
That must be a joke.
That seems like an incredibly low number for selling customers' data.
