Several Montana Counties Targeted by Theft/Break-Ins
As warmer weather begins to creep across the state of Montana, it also apparently will embolden certain criminal types to venture a little further out. Including crossing county lines to commit those crimes.
This past weekend criminals attempted several break ins and thefts across three different counties in central Montana and even a recovered stolen vehicle near Billings, Montana.

Do Criminals Realize They Have Ventured Into the "Country" of Montana
According to the Judith Basin County Sheriff's Office in Stanford, Montana, this past weekend was a busy one for several agencies in different counties. Reports first began in the early morning hours of May 30, 2025, in the small, rural town.

Reports continued into the weekend in the area, and officers were then alerted to further instances happening in neighboring counties of Golden Valley and Wheatland. Authorities also were able to retrieve a stolen Jeep during the weekend in Laurel, MT., near Billings.
Authorities Still Gathering Information, Encourage Victims to Report
As the investigation from the weekend continues, authorities are encouraging anyone in the area to check vehicles for break ins or theft and to report it as soon as possible. Those in more outlying areas should also be vigilant.
