The Women's side of the ‘Wild Frontier’ wasn't very wild last night.

The top 3 teams ran away with their respective games. Rocky took down Providence at home 61-44, Carroll stormed into the Armory and rolled Northern 59-36, and last but not least, the Bulldogs of UM Western put together a solid 40 minutes in Butte to walk away with a 71-47 win.
Nothing changed in the women’s standings after yesterday’s games.

Carroll                10-1
UM Western        9-2
Rocky                  8-3
Montana Tech      3-8
Providence          3-8
MSU Northern    0-11

All eyes are on Dillon Saturday, as the Saints are taking on the Bulldogs for the final time in the regular season. Providence is at Northern, and Rocky hops the bus to Butte for a battle with the Orediggers.

The Carroll women have been incredibly strong as of late, if they take down the Dogs in Dillon, it all but locks up first place going into the Frontier Tournament. If the Dogs hold home, there would be a tie at the top, and the last couple of weeks could be interesting.

The Tech ladies just couldn’t buy a basket Thursday night. It was a mix of being just plain cold, shot selection, and good defense by Western in the first half, that allowed Tech to only put down 5 field goals in the first 20 minutes, on 19% shooting.

Rocky comes to town Saturday for the final matchup in the regular season, (also the final time Butte’s Kloie Thatcher will be on the HPER floor) Gracee Lekvold led the Bears, with a monster second half, netting 19 points in the win against the Argos Thursday. Thatcher knocked down 10.

On the Season, Kloie Thatcher and Morgan Baird both average 11 points a game to lead the Bears, Dominique Stephens is just under 10, Mackenzie Dethman and Ky Buell both are getting 7 a contest.
In the Conference race, the Bears no longer control their own destiny, they need help if they want to win the regular season crown. The one thing they do know is they have to win out to give themselves a shot.

Rocky has won both of the previous meetings with the Orediggers, 59-42 on December 1st, and 60-48 on January 19. The Orediggers will look to change the course of that stream Saturday.

Tipoff is scheduled for 2 pm at the Great Western HPER, on the campus of Montana Tech, you can watch the video feed HERE.
