Golfers Unite For The First Scramble For A Cure Tournament
The fairways at Fairmont Hot Springs Resort Golf Course will turn purple this Friday as community members tee off for a cause during the inaugural "Scramble for a Cure" golf tournament benefitting the Southwest Montana Alzheimer's Walk.
Set for this Friday, May 29th, the charity golf scramble will begin at 9am with a shotgun start at the Fairmont Golf Course between Butte and Anaconda. Organizers say the event is designed to bring together local businesses, families and golfers for a day of friendly competition while raising money and awareness in the fight against Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.
Hosted by the Alzheimer's Association Montana Chapter and local volunteers, the tournament will support the 2026 Walk to End Alzheimer's campaign in Southwest Montana. According to event information, proceeds will help fund education programs, caregiver resources, a free 24/7 helpline staffed by clinicians and social workers, and ongoing research into early detection, treatment, and, ultimately, a cure.
The event also highlights the growing impact Alzheimer's disease has across Montana. Organizers say roughly 21,000 Montanans are currently living with Alzheimer's or dementia, while an estimated 17,000 unpaid caregivers provide support statewide.
Registration costs are $125 per player or $500 for a four-person team. Tournament organizers will award prizes for first, second and third places along with hole prizes and a "Best Dressed" award encouraging participants to "wear your purple."
Jane Kelly, tournament chair, says the goal is simple--bring the community together and drive hope forward.
