The accolades keep rolling in for the Montana Tech Orediggers Track and Field team. For the second time this young season, both a male and female Oredigger have been selected as the Frontier Conference's Athlete of the Week for Track and Field.  The following is from a press release:

WHITEFISH, Mont. – Montana Tech’s Jenna Jordan and Edwin Kipainoi were named the Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Track & Field Athletes of the Week.

Jordan, a sophomore from Corvallis, Montana, was named the conferences field athlete of the week. The Orediggers competed at the Yellowjackets/Battlin’ Bears Open in Billings over the weekend. Jordan finished second out of 20 competitors in the javelin with a throw of 41.38 meters. She bested her previous weeks throw which cleared the NAIA B standard. Jordan’s mark was her longest of the season and achieved the NAIA A standard automatically qualifying for the NAIA National Championship Meet.

Kipainoi, a junior from Kajiado, Kenya, is the men’s track athlete of the week. At the Carroll Duals in Helena, Kipainoi finished first out of seven runners in the 5000 meter race with a time of 15:32.89 seconds. He finished the race nearly 30 seconds faster than the next runner.

This is the second time Kipainoi has been honored with Athlete of the Week honors.  He won the award last week as well when he set Montana Tech's school record at 5000 meters.

Both the Oredigger men and women are scheduled to compete Friday in Spokane, WA at the Whitworth University Peace Meet and the following weekend in Helena at Carroll College's Trudnowski Open.
