One of the best murals painted in 2022 is in Montana

I love art.

All kinds of art.

I love pottery, glass blowing, and sculpture (One of the best sculptors in the world is in Anaconda for goodness sake, Mr. Fred Boyer.) Like most people in Butte, I also have a great pottery collection from the annual Empty Bowls, which we will talk about later.

The other ‘collection’ of art I would say I have is concert posters, there is little in this world I love more than a good concert poster. I know there are more like me, people who are more interested in the artist of the poster, rather than the subject matter. Artists like Crayola (Greg Simkins), Ken Taylor, Frank Kozik, Zeb Love, and Tara McPherson are just a handful of artists producing high art on 24 x 36 heavy stock.

The one art form that I have really fallen into over the years is Murals. When I think of murals locally, the first thing that rushes to my mind is Fran Johnsons, and that Hamblin piece that has graced the south side of that building… forever. I always marveled at how amazing that piece was, the detail was so spot-on no matter where you focused, there was no lack of attention anywhere.

I want to show you a piece by one of the best mural artists in the world. The artist goes by the name Cobre, and you can find him on Instagram under the handle @cobreart. All of his art is done via spray paint. That might lead you to call him a graffiti ‘artist’, and I hope this changes your mind.
This mural is called ‘The Eyes’, it is on a short list of the best murals done in the year 2022, worldwide.

The Eyes was painted in August of 2022, in Great Falls Montana. One of the greatest murals made last year is here in Montana on the side of the Great Falls Gymnastics Academy on the corner of 1st Ave. N & 9th St. N.

I was kind of shocked to see the google maps street view was taken after the mural was put up.
