Kelvin Sampson Returns To Butte For Youth Basketball Clinic

If you are a fan of Montana Tech Oredigger basketball you are in for a treat this weekend as a living legend is returning to the Mining City. If you call three Final Four appearances enough to be considered a legend, that is. Of course, I'm talking about Kelvin Sampson who began his coaching career at Montana Tech is currently the head coach of the University of Houston Cougars, the team he has so far taken to a pair of NCAA Final Four berths. Previously Coach Sampson led the Oklahoma Sooners to the Final Four and also led the programs at Indiana and Washington State during his storied career.

Coach Sampson will be in Butte on Saturday giving back to the community from where he got his start by hosting the Butte Community Youth Basketball Clinic which will take place Saturday from 9am to noon on, appropriately, Kelvin Sampson Court inside Valley Bank Arena on the campus of Montana Tech. Coach Sampson will teach our youth not only about basketball, but leadership and life success.

After Saturday's youth basketball clinic, Coach Sampson will be the keynote speaker at the Coach Kelvin Sampson Fundraising Dinner at Butte's Knights of Columbus Hall on Park Street from 6pm to 9pm. The event will benefit the Karen & Kelvin Sampson Endowed Scholarship Fund at Montana Tech. Tickets to the event are $100 per person and are available here.
