Let US Run presents the annual “Stuff the Bus” program to help provide school kids with backpacks and supplies for the return to school. Last year the program handed out 612 backpacks to kids of all ages, and there will be a significant need again this year.

I think every parent knows, or remembers, that sometimes the money needed to outfit kids with back-to-school necessities doesn’t always fall into the budget. This program is here to help to make sure that every kid has all the school supplies required for their upcoming school year. From kindergarten to high school, each classroom has different supply requirements, and we can hopefully make a difference for a lot of families.

Jim Miller with Let Us Run has been collecting donations all year for the event, and he will need a whole lot more. This is where Butte comes in. The Stuff the Bus event will be held this Friday, at the Town Pump on the corner of Harrison and Elizabeth Warren. The bus will be parked there all day, from 8 am – 5 pm. If you are able to donate and help make sure that kids have the supplies they need in the coming school year, this is the time to do it. You can either purchase supplies and drop them off, helping ‘fill the bus’, or monetary donations are also greatly appreciated.

There will also be a silent auction during the event. Jim sent us a look at some of the silent auction items that will be available Friday, they include: golf for 4, with carts at the Old Works, $100 Costco Gift cards, $50 Sparkey’s Gift Cards, One night's lodging at Fairmont, $65 Oil Change certificates from Certified Transmission, golf for 2 at Fairmont, with cart, $50 Gift Card at Metal’s, (2) 1-night stays at the Copper King Motel, a $375 certificate at East Ridge Powder Coating, and much, much more.

So, come see us Friday for the 5th Annual Stuff the Bus event at the Town Pump on the corner of Harrison Avenue and Elizabeth Warren. Let’s see if we can lighten the load for some families here in the Mining City.

LOOK: Do you know these iconic quotes from '70s TV shows

Stacker looked through the vast array of groundbreaking 1970s television and identified 25 of its most iconic (and most memorable) quotes.

30 famous people you might not know were college athletes

Stacker dug deep to find 30 celebrities who were previously college athletes. There are musicians, politicians, actors, writers, and reality TV stars. For some, an athletic career was a real, promising possibility that ultimately faded away due to injury or an alternate calling. Others scrapped their way onto a team and simply played for fun and the love of the sport. Read on to find out if your favorite actor, singer, or politician once sported a university jersey.

LOOK: 50 famous memes and what they mean

With the infinite number of memes scattered across the internet, it's hard to keep track. Just when you've grasped the meaning of one hilarious meme, it has already become old news and replaced by something equally as enigmatic. Online forums like Tumblr, Twitter, 4chan, and Reddit are responsible for a majority of meme infections, and with the constant posting and sharing, finding the source of an original meme is easier said than done. Stacker hunted through internet resources, pop culture publications, and databases like Know Your Meme to find 50 different memes and what they mean. While the almost self-replicating nature of these vague symbols can get exhausting, memes in their essence can also bring people closer together—as long as they have internet access.
