The Anaconda Camp of Champions basketball camp is now open for registration.

The camp will be held at the Anaconda High School, from July 17th-19th. The camp is for both boys and girls, and the days will be split up by age group.

Grades 1-5 will be on the court first, going from 8:30 am- 10:00 am.
Grades 6-8 will go from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm.
And Grades 9-12 will be on the court from 1:30 pm – 4:00 pm.

The camp will work on basic fundamentals, ball handling, shooting techniques, footwork, passing, and agility. There will be multiple competitions throughout the camp as well, 1 on-1, 2 on-2, and 3 on-3 tournaments, 3-2-1, X-outs, and more.

The camp will be run by former Copperhead (and current Billings Central head coach) Jim Stergar. As a player, Jim was a part of the 1989 Copperhead team that played for a state title. His time with Anaconda didn’t stop there. His first coaching job out of college was as the Copperhead Boys Freshman coach. After one season in Anaconda, Jim accepted a teaching/coaching position in Ronan (where they played for a state title)

The next stop for Coach Stergar was in Billings, with a 9 year stop at Billings Senior, then onto his current position as the head coach at Billings Central, where Coach Stergar has made the Rams into a perennial power in Class A basketball. Billings Central played for the state title an incredible four straight years. 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. Taking home the state championship in 2019. They returned to the title game in 2021, winning their second state championship in three years.

Coach Stergar has done nothing but stack up wins as a player and a coach. This will be a great opportunity to learn from one of Montana’s best coaches.
