Anyone with growing children can attest to the challenges that families face when trying to keep their kids in comfortable, stylish clothing.  It is during these young, naive years that we are at our most critical of others while at the same time most affected by other's opinions.  Simply put, style counts.  Now imagine that you are part of a struggling family, barely keeping food on the table much less worrying about the latest fashion trends.  Sometimes, unfortunately, the very threads on the back of the family's children are sacrificed for more immediate needs.  For a family short on resources, this is indeed a dilemma, but a dilemma that a great group of people are trying to solve.

Here in Butte, there is a store whose goal is to help disadvantaged students in grades K-12 get stylish clothing, toiletries and necessities at prices appropriate to their family's level of income.  The store is Bulldog Outfitters in the Butte Plaza Mall and it is run by current and former teachers and administrators in the Butte School District.  The store is next to the theaters and is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2pm to 4pm or by appointment.  Students and families can also make private appointments by emailing Jim O'Neill at jioneill@bsb.mt.gov or calling 406-497-6215.  Are you interested in making a donation?  Clothing, toiletries and personal hygiene items can be brought to the store directly or left outside during hours in which they are closed.  If you would like to schedule a donation directly, again, please contact Jim O'Neill.
