I am going to assume (if you are reading this) that you are a music junkie too. You probably receive the same flood of ‘show announcement’ emails, for not only Montana venues, but the Pacific Northwest, and beyond.

How happy does a Logjam show announcement make you?

Have you gotten to the point where you open the email like it is a bill yet? Scared that it is a band you HAVE to see, but knowing how many shows you have tickets to already. And then weighing that Time/Money/Family/Work ratio.  It’s such a horrible problem to have.

We don’t have to go back too damn far to remember how much of a musical desert Montana was. We were lucky to have the Metra pull in a big show, or maybe, just maybe, the State Fair booked someone solid. Otherwise, we were on the road for shows.

Thankfully, that is not the case anymore. We have incredible promoters all across the state working to get great bands into Montana. And the venues they are playing at are top-notch.

Earlier this week I was looking at a tour announcement for Shakey Graves. They are playing 2 days back-to-back at The Elm in Bozeman, June 14th and 15th. Those are going to be outstanding shows, guaranteed. But then I was slapped in the face by their next show, on June 16th they will be playing Abayance Bay Marina in Rexford, Montana.

What in the Blue Hell is Abayance Bay Marina??

I had to look it up, but I’m glad I did.

Just west of Eureka on Lake Koocanusa, Abayance Bay Marina is where Shakey Graves will be playing in June. A look at their webpage shows the list of performers they had a year ago, bands like Blues Traveler, Elle King, Steve Earle and the Dukes, Tim Montana, and more. Some great acts, in what looks to be a fantastic setting. I am really excited to see their full summer/fall concert schedule. Like me, you can keep an eye on their webpage, or their Facebook page as well for updates.

If you have attended any of the shows at Abayance Bay Marina, tell me about your experience. I’m excited to learn about this venue and truly look forward to my first show overlooking the lake.
