And yes, this recall affects Montanans.

Wells Enterprises, an Iowa-based manufacturer, issued the voluntary recall on April 25, 2025, and it was made public this week by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The recall includes 22 different flavors of ice cream and frozen yogurt, all packaged in 3-gallon tubs.

These were distributed to 103 service centers across the U.S., including in neighboring states—meaning Montana consumers could easily be affected through regional distributors or restaurant suppliers.

Which Ice Cream Products Are Under Recall

The impacted products are marked with “Best If Used By” dates ranging from March 2026 to October 2026.

While no injuries or adverse reactions have been reported so far, the FDA has categorized the event as a Class II recall, meaning the product could cause “temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.” Serious harm is unlikely, but still possible if consumed.

This recall follows a wave of ice cream-related health warnings in recent months, including concerns over listeria contamination and salmonella in other food products.

Montanans are urged to check the full list of affected ice cream flavors, batch codes, and distribution locations posted on the FDA’s official website.

If you find a matching product, do not consume it. Dispose of it properly or return it to the place of purchase.
