New Major Construction to Cause Delays for Butte Drivers
BUTTE, MT - Let us ask you this: is there anything more annoying than traversing your daily commute, only to find that there are road closures and construction along your route?
It's a tale as old as time. You hop in the car, you're running a few minutes behind because of a busy morning at home, and you hit the highway, only to see the dreaded "Road Work Ahead" signs. Luckily, you're in the right place at the right time so that you can avoid this situation going forward.
It has recently been announced by the Montana Department of Transportation that there will be some upcoming road construction and closures along Interstates 90 and 15 here in Butte, MT. Construction in the areas (see the map below) have already begun, and are planned to continue over the next few months.
Here's the map to give you an idea of where the construction is taking place:
It has been reported that the construction is revolving around bridge rehabilitation and improvement, with seven work zones affecting traffic on the German Gulch Rd Bridge, the Montana St Bridge, the Harrison Ave Bridge, the Burlington St Bridge, and the Homestake Pass Bridge, all expected to bring traffic delays.
The worst of it will be the work done on the German Gulch Bridge, as it is estimated that the bridge will be closed for about two months for repairs. During this period, those needing to exit the industrial park toward Butte or enter from Dillon will have to use alternative exits, which could add 5-20 minutes to the commute, depending on traffic conditions.
Additionally, minor repairs at the Exit 126 and 127 bridges will impact Montana Street and Harrison Avenue, respectively.
It's best to be prepared, so make the proper adjustments when needed, and, as always, drive safe.
