The 44th Annual NAIA Women's Volleyball National Championship didn't get started the way the Montana Tech planned, but it did finish the way they wanted, with a 3-0 sweep of Valley City State by scores of 25-20, 25-19, 25-23.

For a little over a month now, folks from all across Southwest Montana have been graciously donating their gently worn winter gear for the annual Harrington Pepsi/Butte Cares/Ziply Fiber Clothing Drive while over the last couple of days our volunteers have been sorting and folding the literal mountain of clothes that have been dropped off. This year, we will be wrapping things up with the free distribution starting at 10am at the Butte Plaza Mall Events Center on the south side of the building and the generosity of our donors and volunteers cannot go unnoticed.

While only a pair of games are on the college sports schedule here in Butte, there is a lot of action happening only a couple hours away from town in either direction, especially if you like playoff football.

The nominations have been received and reviewed and a distinguished Uptown business has been selected to serve as the Grand Marshal to be honored to help turn on the lights during the tree lighting ceremony at the Courthouse Rotunda and lead the Children's Light Parade.

Sure, we are just entering the final weeks of the nonconference schedule, but the next two games in particular are of unique importance. After reviewing hundreds of entries from children from Butte schools, Mainstreet Uptown Butte judges have selected this year's Stroll button design contest winners. On December 1st, the winners will be honored during the tree lighting ceremony at 6:30 pm at the BSB Courthouse at 155 W. Granite Street and then will be invited to help lead the Christmas Stroll Children's Light Parade at 6:45 pm.
