BUTTE, MT - There's nothing quite like an ol' hometown diner.

Luckily for those of us living in the Big City (which is something I don't think anyone has ever referred to Butte as before), we are treated to many fine hometown, country-style restaurants. And, though this may sound diplomatic, they are all pretty darn good in their own unique ways.

In my humble, amateur opinion, however, there is one in particular that just feels familiar and classic, sticking its greasy head above the pack. What this establishment really has going for it is not only the food, the people, or the atmosphere, but actually its low-key nature.

If you're someone still living in "the good ol' days" of pre-smartphone existence, or you're someone who's never stepped foot in Butte before, finding this haven of delicious eating can be difficult. No door signs indicate where it peacefully sits, no branding lines the front facade, nothing really—besides the billboard-like sign on the corner of the lot—to disclose what you're getting into.

One reason for this hidden ambiguity might be because I am blind and stupid (quite literally when I'm not wearing my glasses; more stupid when I am). But another reason might be because they know what they have and they have nothing to prove to anyone. Seriously: despite its somewhat "hidden" location for a newcomer, the place is always packed with hungry citizens.

Of course, I'm talking about Hanging Five Restaurant off of Harvard Ave, and nothing can keep people from coming here en masse. I don't blame them: the coffee is consistent, the food is consistent and tasty, and the service is consistent, tasty, and delightful. Don't ask me why the service is "tasty;" you aren't ready for the answer.

All in all, Hanging Five—whether it be breakfast after church, lunch before the big game, or just for a nice dinner with the lady/man—is sure to treat you well, with all of its classic, hometown nurturing in the Big City. Yes, I'm going to make that a thing.
